“Of all the charities, giving food is the best one. We are very disturbed when we do not get food at noon. Other beings feel the same way under these circumstances. Knowing this, he who gives food to the hungry is the best donor or charitable person…other kinds of charity are imperfect but giving of food is the most meritorious.”
- Shirdi Sai Baba (Chapter 38 Sri Sai Satcharitra)
The following testimonial was provided by the receiver of our services as part of our mission. He requested that it be shared in hopes that this news spreads and Madhukara can help others in need. Madhukara has full permission to share this image and his story.
Madhukara received a call yesterday from Kris. Kris and his siblings are taking care of their ailing father. A set of unfortunate circumstances placed them in a tight spot financially. Kris and his family are currently residing in a rural campground with a vehicle that is not drivable and requires repair. This limited their options for assistance. Kris had received our card and was told to call us.
He explained to us that his father has been in and out of the hospital with a cardiac condition since Thanksgiving last year. He and his siblings have been caring for their father and trying to make ends meet by food delivery but then their car broke down and it is expensive to repair. He told us that they were short on food but are hopeful things will turn around soon as both he and his brother were starting new jobs. Through our discussion, we learned that they were not short on food, they actually had no food. Kris sent over his grocery list which was full of fresh foods - chicken, eggs, potatoes, bread, milk - so that he could prepare food as he enjoys cooking. We delivered a week's worth of food promptly so they could have a good meal that night. Kris said “you guys are the best! Can’t wait to cook a good meal tonight.” He shared that he was going to grill chicken on the campfire.
The love in this family was palpable and it was an honor to assist them in this way.
The next day we received this message from Kris:
“We cannot thank you enough. We were in a tough place and you helped us tremendously. Thanks to Madhukara, our family can continue to better ourselves and pursue our individual and collective dreams. Our world needs more people like this!”
