We are excited to share with you our special Christmas Project and Fundraiser. Madhukara has a special connection to Siboniwe Trust and we have chosen to support their work with the women of Zimbabwe.
Siboniwe's Mission
We are a newly formed group of multi-professional Zimbabwean women. Our mission is to promote, encourage and advocate for kindness towards the overall wellbeing of women who are awaiting trial or have been convicted and are serving their sentences in our prison system. It is our greatest wish to encourage society at large to perceive offenders as people in need of many forms of help and not to write them off merely as ‘criminals’. We share the views of the prison system that it is more important to rehabilitate offenders than just to punish and release. We are optimistic that it will make a difference to many female offenders if they feel accepted and supported by other people from all walks of life. It is our vision that such acceptance will be a source of hope and a deterrent to re-offending. The Zimbabwean prison system requires children to be incarcerated with their mothers if no alternative arrangements can be made. There is no robust social service to cater for fostering the children born to incarcerated mothers and they actually eat and live with their mothers in conditions that are below basic humane levels. Nutrition is a major issue in the particular prison we support. At Christmas, Siboniwe provides a holiday meal to the incarcerated women, their children who live with them in the prison, the prison staff/officers and their families. This provides of maybe one of two full meals the women will enjoy this year. Sharing a meal with the officers and the officers' families promotes unity that removes the them and us divided status that often prevails in such institutions. With your support, Madhukara will be assisting Siboniwe's to provide the holiday meal. We are hoping to raise at minimum $500 to offset their costs. Help Madhukara Serve the Residents of Faith Mission Lancaster, OH
We are providing a hot dinner meal to the residents of the Mission this Saturday, November 19 and Saturday, December 17. The Mission does not have a kitchen and the residents require grab and go food items for breakfast and lunch. We are reaching out to each of you for volunteers to help prepare the meal and/or to donate to our fund to help purchase easy food items. We greatly appreciate your generosity! Healing Sessions
Feeling disconnected, tired? Have unmanageable pain? Just out of balance? Schedule a healing session with Brooke with a portion of the fee supporting Madhukara ($54 for 60 mins). Peace Fires New Year's Eve Video (from 2019)
Join us for the 7th Annual PEACE FIRES New Year's Eve Global Event Saturday, Dec 31 from sunset to Midnight 2023 (come by at anytime) We will gather at the dhuni fire and while looking at the flame connect with Peace Fires around the globe sending this shared intention and prayer: “Let there be peace on earth and love for one another.” As we rotate spending time holding the fire, we have potluck snacks, coffee, tea to keep us warm.
