ABOUT MADUKARA

We are not a charity.
We are a calling.
We are kindred souls who follow a path of love — and it moves us to do small things and perform small kindnesses. We know that creating feedback loops of gratitude has the power to transform our world.
Gratitude is the language of the soul — and it is feedback loops of gratitude that will ultimately transform the world out of darkness and despair and into universal love. One small act at a time, with selflessness and surrender.
BROOKE CANNOOT, FOUNDER

Madhukara- The Honey Maker
Madhukara is a Sanskrit word that means "Honey Maker." Our mission is to make life sweet for all that we encounter. Our symbol, the honeybee, does not create sweetness from nothing — it seeks it, finds it, and gathers it. We are calling all honey makers to join our hive.
OUR STORY
Born from service.
Rooted in love.
Madhukara didn't begin with a business plan. It began with a meal.
At Dhanwantari Center for Yoga and Well-Being in South Bend, Indiana, a small group of kindred souls — connected through their shared spiritual lineage — began gathering to serve meals to those experiencing homelessness. They called it The Seva Project.
Seva means selfless service. It was simple, humble, and profound.
As the years passed and lives changed, the mission moved with them. From South Bend to Canal Winchester, Ohio — The Seva Project became Madhukara. Built on the same foundation: show up, serve, love without conditions.
We are not seeking refuge from being human. We are guided by the great saints who walked this earth in service to humanity — not because they were great, but because they were so small and filled with love that miracles flowed.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
Our Values
The most powerful healing technique of all is service to humanity. Feed the poor, attend to the sick, visit the lonely — but do not dismiss the simple ways that can quickly dispel negativity: the smile, the kind word, expressions of hope and not darkness, faith and not fear.
✨
All are one
We are not partakers of any one religion or dogma. We believe each of us is connected and reflects that inner luminosity to each other
🌊
Feedback loops of gratitude
Every interaction — through our words or our deeds — is an opportunity to share love and create feedback loops of gratitude that transform the world
🙏🏻
Service is the highest healing
All the healing techniques are impotent without action in the world. The most powerful healing technique of all is service to humanity
💛
Love or fear — we choose love
At each moment we make a choice — love or fear. Madhukara is a community that chooses love, in every small act, every single day
OUR SPIRITUAL LINEAGE
Guided by those who came before
We are guided by the great saints who walked this earth in service to humanity — Shirdi Sai Baba, Sri Kaleshwar, Mother Mary, and Jesus. Not because they were great, but because they were so small and filled with God's love that miracles flowed.
You don't need to share our spiritual background to be part of Madhukara. All are welcome. All are one.

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Brooke Cannoot
Founder & Executive Director ·
Licensed Occupational Therapist, MS OTR/L
Brooke is a licensed Occupational Therapist with a Master's degree from Western Michigan University and a Bachelor's from Purdue University. She has studied yoga, ayurveda, meditation, and Eastern mysticism for over 20 years.
Her passion for healing led her to open Dhanwantari Center for Yoga and Well-Being in South Bend, Indiana in 2007 — where she met her teacher Philip Lipetz, PhD, and was introduced to the teachings of Sri Kaleshwar and the Dattatreya lineage.
Through those teachings, Brooke discovered that service to others IS the highest spiritual practice — and that miracles flow not from greatness, but from smallness filled with love. She founded Madhukara to bring that mission to life.
Brooke resides in Canal Winchester, Ohio with her husband and three children. She is also the creator of Inner Silence Therapy — an occupational therapy practice weaving Eastern healing modalities with modern neuroscience. Visit innersilencetherapy.com

Paralegal · Energy Healer
Melissa has spent 30+ years serving others as a paralegal — a career built entirely on helping people navigate some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Her spiritual journey began in the early 2000s with a profound awakening that led her to study energy healing, yoga, and meditation. She is a forever student of the Blessed Mother, Jesus, Shirdi Sai Baba, and Sri Kaleshwar. Melissa brings both professional excellence and deep spiritual devotion to her role as Board President — leading with her heart in everything she does.

Beth came to Madhukara while completing her Yoga Certification and what began as a workshop quickly became a calling. Inspired by the community's passion for selfless service she opened her heart to a path she had always carried within her. Her inspiration is her grandmother Pauline — a woman who led a quiet life of unconditional love and service, giving freely and showing up for others every single day. Beth carries that same spirit into everything she does. Small but mighty — Beth is Tinkerbell in the hive. Always seeking, always serving, spreading light wherever she goes.
